I don't normally use forums but am very stressed about many things and wanted practical advice rather than trying to show how I am wrong when I know my situation is different from the examples given.  Many comments perhaps aren't intended to be unhelpful and patronising, but they do come across that way. I'm no longer checking for replies so won't respond further.
You've been given "practical advice", but as in the case with many seeking advice on here, it isn't what you wanted to hear. We all make decisions which on reflection weren't the best, but that is life. So we have to move on, put it behind us and try not to repeat it in the future

Well we could all say yes you are right to want your money back & not pay the bill. Only that would be giving the wrong advice.
Maybe there could be "we agree with you" forum.
Where cases like this we can tell the OP is totally correct and not to pay.
We could agree with them to fight it in court as they would win.
Then we could agree with them that how unfair it all is getting a CCJ and a bad credit record.

I wonder if that would catch on?

I turned my Hub off back in March, when I tried to turn it on again it wouldn’t work no matter which set of instructions I followed, I have come to the conclusion that is been switched as obsolete by BG, it is probably 10 years old or more. I decided to buy a new one, £60 on the BG website, however it seems I can’t, get right to clicking next after all payment details are in, button is greyed out. I tried to sign into my account thinking it might work, I can’t do that because I’m told I need 2 factor authentication but no explanation or link to set it up. I’m fuming, the thermostat is fine but all it does is show the temperature, I can’t access the programmes I set up so heating has to be turned on manually. I don’t want to buy a hub off Amazon because it seems a lot of them don’t work having been allocated to a customer previously. I won’t have a Nest because it’s a google run product so I’m thinking of a Tado, one ad says they run on batteries but another suggests they need wiring in 🙄 Does anyone know which is correct and can I install it myself?

    Why turn the hub off?

There is no logical reason to turn them off.

There might not have been and I honestly can’t remember why I did, it’s over 6 months ago. It doesn’t work now so there’s not much I can do about it. That doesn’t answer my question does it.

Have you checked on the Hive website (not app) to see if your hub is one of the discontinued products? If it is you should have received a discount voucher towards an upgrade.

There is a comprehensive faq section on the website with links to contact them for specific support. This should also talk you through how to access your account again.
