  • Thank you for your responses and advice. Unfortunately, it did confirm what I suspected and that was to bite the bullet and pay.

On another note, if English is not the drivers mother tongue, they may not understand the wording on the road. I get that this is covered by the signage, was just curious on how this matter would be viewed.

I should imagine an admission that you haven't got the faintest idea what any of the signs mean would be treated pretty seriously and rightly so.  It would be like driving in France and not knowing how the priorité works...

I expect a defence along those lines would be viewed with great hilarity. What do you think happens when you break the rules in foreign countries? How do the non-English-speakers know about all the other laws in this country?

If one can’t understand the signs they shouldn’t be driving

    With no sympathy at all.
  • Further information. After viewing the evidence, the car does not enter a bus lane but instead drives through a bus gate marking. If I understand correctly TSRGD defines a Bus Gate as being part of a Bus Lane, is this correct? The code on the PCN is code 34: Being in a Bus Lane, is there a separate contravention code for Bus Gate or as mentioned above it falls into a Bus Lane, as per TSRGD?

    Thanks

Think of a bus gate as a really short bus lane.

I wouldnt listen to any random doom and gloom on MSE .

Win or lose you need to learn how to fight these anyway so the point is fight it as it very likely wont be the last one .

The 100% correct path is the  ftla link provided by Lightflare your personal opinion and all the rest is as useful as talking to a traffic warden.

Easy to say "fight it" when it's not your money on the line.

Its never going to be easy as no one would pay them if it was easy .......they wouldnt make any money .
The other side of the coin is you wont win every game either but you will become better at winning .

Thats why you get real help from practised people in the know via the link provided rather than random opinionated rubbish including ones own thoughts which are very often ....very wrong.
