Ive used cottages.com and Sykes a lot.  Never had any problems with either of them.

The only problem I’ve ever had was a cottage in Ireland.  When we got there we found it hadn’t been cleaned, there were dirty plates and coffee cups everywhere and it looked like it had been inhabited by non holiday makers. Apparently the owner did her own cleaning.    We had booked with a reasonable sized Irish company and we managed to contact them very quickly.  They were brilliant.  They found us another cottage immediately (we never go in the high season so they had  some vacant ones on their books)  met us there with a lovely bottle of champagne.  It was bigger and nicer than the one we booked.

When we got home I had a look at the one we ended up with and it cost virtually double what the original one had.  😄. I noticed a few months later that the original one wasn’t on their books any more.
