Different holiday cottage sites for UK

Hi,
I want to book a last-minute break in Yorkshire and I usually go via Sykes but I just wondered if there are any other holiday cottage companies or independent cottages that anyone can recommend?

Rural Retreats and their group company Yorkshire Hideaways.  Not the cheapest, but v high quality.

Thanks, I'll have a look at those. I’d rather use a smaller company, an independent, so they don't all get squeezed out.

My tip is to look where you'd like to stay on google maps. If you zoom in close, accommodation will show and you can click on anything that looks interesting.

You quite often find properties that aren't on the main agency sites, or you get the contact details to book direct with the owner and save paying the agency fees.

I tend to google ‘holiday cottages in (village or area)’ as that will often bring up smaller localised agencies in addition to the bigger nationals

I am in the industry (Cornwall) so can recommend a couple where you will be booking with the owners - if you were after rural then you could use Farmstay which is (as the name suggests) made up of property on farms (both self catering cottages and B&B) and Premier Cottages is high quality too. HTH.
