I used to get a reminder monthly to give my readings when we didn't have smart meters - I think the "we ask that you provide a reading monthly" is probably a polite way of saying "provide a reading monthly" - people often respond better to what seems like a polite request than an outright demand.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

When I was first with Octopus they sent unsolicited estimated bills a couple of times.
A manual read on 30th September was treated as 29th, so they then sent an estimated bill covering up to 29th October. In that case only 30 days after my meter reading.

I don't have a smart meter and I pay Octopus by VMDD. It's always run like clockwork and the bill appears in a day or two.The bills just couldn't be clearer, everything is explained well, including the imperial to metric conversion.3
