I need to move home ASAP. I am currently unemployed with 2 children and I have an IVA (I will be returning to work in January when my youngest statts nursery) I do however have a guarantor secured, a positive reference from my current landlord and a holding fee and deposit money readily avaliable.
I have been turned down for properties over 15 times because of having an IVA. What else can I do to help me secure a property?

Where is the rent money coming from ? Why are you moving ?

How long have you been in an IVA ?

You'll need to deal direct with landlords rather than EAs, although they can also see the Insolvency Register.

Why do you have to move ASAP? Any chance of going back to work earlier?

And given you are obviously in rented accommodation, why are you on an IVA? They were designed for home owners and the like who couldn't go bankrupt not renters, although they are massively mis-sold.

I'm unsure where to find private landlords, iv tried a few websites where you deal dorecr with landlords but the rent proces are too high.

To to a relationship breakdown. I'm not able to atm as nursery have long placement waits and my youngest has been secured a place in January. I don't have childcare help around me so no hope until he starts nursery.

I got myself into some debt and couldn't see a way out. An IVA was the only way I was told as I wasn't able to secure a loan big enough to cover all of my debt and just pay the 1 loan back

You probably want to ask on the living with debt forums as someone may be able to help.

Consolidation never works and an IVA isn't a loan, it is a publicly reported Insolvency measure. It is one of four options which include DMPs.

Failing to pay the debts off would have had limited impact beyond a lot of letters and some defaults. Did the people to whose advert you replied tell you that they got a fee for referring you to the IVA provider? It's water under the bridge, but who is your IVA provider?

Of more importance, how much are you currently paying towards the household rent? And how much towards the IVA? How much do you think you will need to pay for rent when you move?

As well as housing advice I think you should pop over to the Debt Free Wannabe board.  Unless you had significant debts and an asset to protect such as a house then you were not a suitable candidate for an IVA.
