Opening the Close Brothers 2-year fixed via the Hargreaves Lansdown Active Savings

The deadline seemed to be valid till the 12th. I opened the Hargreaves Lansdown Active Savings on the 11th, but I opened the Close Brothers account today.

I don't understand wheather the 12th June deadline was for the Active account only or the Close Brothers too (current interest rate valid till the 17th). Basically, will I get the offer?

There is no date for the HL Active Saving account. You just open it

The 12th was the 'Apply By' date for the (old) Close Brothers offer. That expired on the 12th, It's now another offer with an Apply By date of the 17th

You will get the current offer with the apply by date of the 17th

If you have opened it you will see it under the My Savings tab. It should show as Pending until the Start Date for the product which for that Close one is the 19th. HL wait until the apply by date and then send all the money from you and others to the provider in one batch payment on the Start Date

Sorry, the website is not very clear to me.
I can see the Close Brothers account is pending will open on the 19th.

But where I can see what is the other offer?

OP opened Active Savings on the 11th but didn't apply for the Close offer until today (16th) so they missed the old one by 4 days as that expired on the 12th. They got new the one with an apply by date of the 17th

They can see it with a state of Pending

Perhaps the OP thinks there was a date to open the HL Active Savings account

It's just an umbrella account that offers many actual savings accounts and enable HL to take your money, pay it to the savings provider and allow you to withdraw it to your bank account

I read it as ongoing confusion about the two offers and which one they have, and what the offer they have (that is showing pending) actually is!

Hopefully OP will clarify if they need to

One offer expired on the 12th. Another offer will expire on the 17th. Right?


I opened HL Account Saving on 11th. Opened the Close Brothers account & transferred money on it today and it is still pending.

What benefit can I expect?

You applied for the Close account with an Apply By date of the 17th and a Start Date of the 19th. This one

When you selected the account it explained what would happen

On the 19th it will be open and no longer pending. You can cancel your application while it is still pending
