Talkmobile destroyed my credit rating on switching - because I pay form my families phones!

I just transferred from Vodafone to TalkMobile - I explained I pay for all my family's phones.  They said I could manage them from one account view just the same - but then added 5 new credit lines to my reported credit file overnight.  My score dropped from excellent to fair - I complained and then said ' it's because we are a network provider'!!! but Vodafone gave me multiple contracts on one account over 10 years and I had 1 credit file ....not 5 - it's ridiculous.  Gutted as I worked really hard and made sacrifices to make sure my rating was excellent.

You do understand that your credit 'score' is not used by anyone who is considering giving you credit? Your credit 'score' is a fictional number made up by the credit reference agency to give you an idea of how you compare to other people. It isn't used by firms who lend money. These firms have their own lending criteria and use your credit record (not your credit score) to decide whether to lend to you.

So until you try to borrow any money you don't know whether TalkMobile has harmed your ability to get credit or not. If you find you can't get credit, ask the lender whether they would have lent you money if you had just one line of credit recorded from TalkMobile, and if they confirm (in writing) that this would have altered their decison, you can complaint to TalkMobile. At the moment, you have no complaint.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Your "score" means nothing, its just a humanised way of presenting a bunch of data to you.
