As anyone else fallen foul of the closing of barclaycard feedom reward scheme.
I was contacted by e-mail in February to say scheme was closing and we would be issued with new cards. From that day I have not received any further communication , either by e-mail , letter or notification on my log in page. In late May I checked my freedom points home page which had the banner headline " Barclaycard Freedom rewards are ending in June 2024". Thought I would let my payment go through on 3rd June and then cash out my £190 worth of points.
Silly me , reward scheme closed end of May not June as I was led to believe.
Have appealed to Barclaycard , customer complaints agrees I was misled , but cannot honour my points, so goodbye to £190 .
Would be interested to know if anyone else has been misled and suffered from a lack of communication over the closing of the scheme.

In the email I received in February there were a number of information boxes covering the scheme closure - one of them I've copied the contents below.
What happens next?
I then received a second email late March covering the same material and my points total. We’ve added £5 worth of Freedom Rewards points to your account – and you can keep earning more points until 30 April 2024.
You have until 20 May 2024 to redeem your points for vouchers – make sure you remember to do this. If you don’t, they’ll be lost.
You can use your Freedom Rewards card until we send your Barclaycard Rewards card – we’ll send this to you in June 2024 after your statement date. You can then start using it straight away and start earning cashback.
Once you use your new card, your Freedom Rewards card will stop working.
Did you receive the second email?

I also got more than one e-mail detailing the change and dates and have - as a result - cashed out as many points as I could... even donating some to charity leaving an orphaned 94 points still sitting on the account when I found I'd built up another £5 worth near the last dates in May.

Hi I have done the same thing thought I would collect points up to the June payment but unfortunately lost all my points. Tried talking to someone but all the guy said was sorry Madam you’ve lost all your points the scheme has closed.0

Same as you flower15, thought had time to redeem because of the totally misleading headline on the rewards web page. I received no second e-mail. I wasn't signed up to go paperless so why did they not write to me, or even put a message in my notifications.
Its almost as if they didn't want you to cash out your points.0 -
Absolutely livid with Barclaycard Rewards.
Misleading headline re June.
One single email in February which said there would be reminders - have had nothing since.
Nothing on statements.
Agree - Barclaycard wanted to avoid the liability of people cashing in.
Poor show from Barclaycard.1 -
Same here. I went to cash them out for father's day and that was the first I knew of it.
I didn't recall getting any correspondence so I called them. He basically said tough and that emails started to be sent out from February.
Checked my junk box and they was one in Feb and another in March which I had not seen. Nothing more.
Reading through the email it states the card is changing, blah blah blah, you don't need to do anything etc. it's not until 2/3 of the way down it goes on to mention the points.
Even if I had seen it I most likely would have got to the "you don't need to do anything" comment and then moved into the next email.
Very badly communicated. I feel like it's been intentional.
I must log onto my app at least 2-3 times a week and there's been no messages or anything to highlight I will lose my points on there.
You can't send a message to complain on the app either. You have to phone or send a letter.
I've used my feet and switched current account to nationwide. I will find a new rewards card soon.

I'm not impressed with Barclaycard either.
Fortunately, I did receive the emails and managed to convert my points to vouchers. However, I can see why some would be confused. My June paper statement still showed the final April Freedom points total - even though I had redeemed them and if I hadn't they would be worthless. The online account summary page also still shows these points with the link to redeem them - there's no comment that the scheme has ended (and the link goes nowhere).
My beef with Barclaycard is the time they are taking to replace the cards. The Freedom points scheme ended on 30th April and the cashback scheme only starts when the new Rewards card is first used.
Since 1st May to date I've spent over £2,000 on the existing Freedom Rewards Card and have lost out on 2,900 points which would have given me a £5 voucher and 1150 points to carry over. The Rewards Card .25% cashback does not start until the new card is used.
With no sign of the new card and no notification of when it might arrive the only one being rewarded is Barclaycard.0
