Alcove shelving support options

I've been refurbishing or living room, which involved removing some old shelving from one of the chimney alcoves. I plan to put more shelves up on both sides of the chimney.
The shelves will be fairly deep at 330mm, and be either 900 or 1200 wide.
We've got 'period' decor, with brushed brass fittings, so I was originally to use 3 x 300mmm standard brushed brass brackets, but I don't know if that would look a bit mental in an alcove.
Previous owners used battens on the wall but wasn't a fan of the look, so would appreciate suggestions.

Could you use a floating shelf system to have the shelves in place without the visible brackets/battens?
Something like these (but they're available in many sizes)

Similar issue - perhaps some ideas?

Cheers, TIW. I had half settled on something like https://www.wickes.co.uk/Alcove-Black-Shelf-Bracket---270-x-25mm/p/249885# with 25mm pine.
I will have a butcher's.

Took me a while to figure out what they look like. These are 'angle-iron', I think. If so, they won't be fully invisible, but should still be pretty discrete.Grenage said:Cheers, TIW. If you don't rebate them into the shelf, they will leave a small gap between the shelf edges and the walls. Only small tho', and rebating shouldn't be too tricky if really needed - some chiseling would do this.
I suspect you'll need one at the middle-back, too, to prevent sag.0 -
That's right, I figured a rebate and painting the same colour as the shelves would look pretty minimal.
The Sagulator (https://woodbin.com/calcs/sagulator/) reckons 50kg should be fine with just the ends fixed. We have no plans for more than 20kg, but just in case...1 -
Bookcase strip.
You can either flush it into the walls (or line the walls with timber and flush into that) or surface mount and notch the shelves.
