Need a bit of help regarding Natwest cheque cash-ins

Recently accessed my matured CTF from Natwest that I thought had been lost for good. Went to withdraw it last week, got told it would take up to 8 working days to do anything. Phoned them today on the 5th working day as they said they'd send a letter out to confirm the withdrawl, never heard anything from them. Turns out, even though I'd linked my Natwest select account to the CTF account, they'd prefer to send a cheque.

My app has a cash-in feature, however says "The daily limit is £1,500. Individual cheques can be up to £1000.00 each. To deposit more than this, please visit your local branch or post office."

I'm having a hard time understanding this. If my cheque is more than the £1000, can I cash it in over 2 seperate working days via the app? (So first £1000 on the first day and then the last £900 the next?). Can I ONLY do the first £1000? I've never had a cheque before so don't want to go trying to cash in a significant amount of money only to find out I'll lose half of it because it won't be allowed to be cashed or something. Will I just be safer making the 50 mile trip to the nearest natwest branch?

If they have a cheque limit of £1000 within the app and you have a cheque of a higher amount, then I'd understand that to mean that you can't use the app to process it and would need to visit a branch instead, although a post office may be more convenient.

As above, cheques over £1k can't be paid in via the app,  but could pay in 2 of £750 or 3 £500  etc in a day.

In this day and age companies should be making payments by bank transfer instead of making things difficult for people by sending cheques.

You can pay in cheques at a  post office, but you need a personalised paying in slip so you'd have to get NatWest to send you one.

Agreed, especially when this is the same bank, sending a balance from one of their accounts to another, that's already linked!
