Royal mail delivered on wrong day

I'm not aware of any such Royal Mail service as "we promise not to deliver before a certain date", and in any event that obviously wasn't what you bought (and even if it was, it's not Royal Mail's fault that your buyer hasn't paid!).1

Agreed, but the issue is RM offering what is seemingly a service to change the delivery date.Hoenir said:
Expecting the RM to pull out one piece of mail that's in transit on a prescribed service is zero. Recipient has total control over when it's delivered.Okell said:
Is that even possible?mollyolly said:... I rescheduled the delivery via royal mail and was sent confirmation saying it would be delivered the following week...
I thought that once something had been transferred over to RM for delivery then that was it. The sender no longer had any control or influence over it...
The OP could complain. I imagine the most they could expect is their postage costs refunded, as a gesture of goodwilll. But, it will be a fight even to get that.0 -
That's why despite all the additional cost is best to trade through a trusted 3rd party venue. The world unfortunately is full of deceitfull people. Who think nothing of shafting you at the first opportunity. Building trust is often their ploy.mollyolly said:Story is, I sold some trainers to someone, who I had been selling to for over 6 months and built up a good customer seller relationship, or so I thought .0 -
Thanks. Given the circumstances, I think you may have a case to complain that the delivery wasn't rescheduled as confirmed, but that would at best get you maybe a partial or full refund of the RM fee. What I don't see is that RM has any liability for your customer not paying. You sent the item before receiving payment, and if the recipient is dishonest (as opposed to being out of action for a reason unbeknown to you) then you wouldn't have been any better off from the delayed delivery unless you physically went to his location to intercept the delivery. I don't think you can recall the delivery entirely.mollyolly said:Then on the Thursday I got this email saying couldn't deliver
You need to pursue your customer for your loss.1 -
No chance of any Royal Mail compensation, on your screenshot it even says its not a guarantee. They delivered the package according to the contracted service.
To those saying no chance of RM intercepting - RM use digital tracking for signed for services now and all posties round here have digital devices for scanning, when they scan to deliver it immediately tells them its not due and the postie should take it back - but if someone happens to be in....then it will be delivered...

I wonder if the parcel was already on the van for delivery the next day & was out for delivery before delivery office picked up the message from the system?Aylesbury_Duck said:
