Red Route Contravention (Code 46), is this PCN invalid? Pls help

Hi everyone,

I always park in this location and have never received a PCN before, this is the location:
Heavenly Desserts, Leicester, London Road
what3words: exit.dice.penny

I made sure to read the sign very clearly, which says if you park between the following times you need to pay: 

Mon - Sat

9.30 am - 4 pm

3 hours

No return

I did not pay for pay and display as I parked outside these times, surely this is not a valid PCN? Or am I missing something here? Please advise how I should proceed. Please and thanks

So after checking on Google Maps street view, I can see this a bit further down, which would explain the PCN, very very confusing, I did not even see these signs when I parked. 



You can't see the signs when you park here. From the sign that I did see, what I understood is that if you park during these times you need to pay, if you park outside of these times then parking charges don't apply.

As this is not a private parking company PCN , I suggest that you post your query over on the ftla parking forum in the correct section, after reading their posting requirements there

I think you have fallen victim to some really bad signage. Take a look at this wider angle streetview:

The bits I've marked in purple are 'park for up to three hours, pay at machine' but the bit in orange is Loading Only (as per the painted-on-the-road wording). Between the orange and purple there is a dividing dash red line, but looking along the street, the dashed red line appears continuous.

As you've noted, the 'loading only' and 'park for three hours' signs appear basically in the same place! But if you were in the Loading Only bit then that's why you got the PCN. If you weren't, then no idea.

I don't know anything about the disputing-it part of this so I'll leave that to the experts.
