I am looking at Lenovo laptops, what are your thoughts on buying direct from Lenovo or Currys, I know a lot of people hate Currys, I am not keen myself but needs must.

I was helping a friend buy a new laptop and he knew Currys sold what he was interested in. We went there, despite my misgiving that we'd just get a spotty youth who was only interested in his commission, and dealt with their business sales team, as it was for a business. Totally different experience, dealt with a chap with many years knowledge who clearly knew what he was talking about and could make useful suggestions. They got the business.

I don't have a problem with Currys myself, I've bought loads of laptops through them over the years.   My motto is to never ever listen to anyone who is trying to sell you anything.   Just do your own research on the internet and only buy from Currys if it is cheap enough.

My laptop failed within 30 days of buying it and they replaced it no problem (the support actually uses a webcam now so you can see the engineer and he can see your laptop which worked well).   However, I had to wait while they got the laptop back before they despatched a new one.   My laptop before this one came from AO.com, when that failed they sent a new one the next day and I just swapped it with the courier which was a lot better and quicker for the customer.

Depending on where you live, have a look at what John Lewis has to offer - we've had good service from them and frequently you get a two years or more warranty.

Thank you, I have looked at John Lewis but they don't have the particular laptop that I want.

OK I'll guess. Any chance you want this one?

    Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5, AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 14 Inch OLED Laptop, 82XE0053UK ?

You're in luck! £549 at Costco.

Sorry no, I'm not going to say which one I want because it will probably start a whole discussion revolving around the laptop and not where to buy. But thank you for your reply.

If you know what you want and they have it, try Argos (as a precaution though, as with any expensive purchase from anywhere these days, make sure you check the contents of the packaging at the point of collection).
