both for advise and to represent me in court
How much do they usually charge?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It's worth calling the court to let them know, if you got one directed to you already then it's probably just an admin mistake but should be easy enough to sort now.

I would not do that, ring the court on Monday to get this sorted this is too important to leave to the post.
For the police to offer a fixed penalty, they must have considered the offence to be at the low end of the scale. For a SJ to refer a case to a full hearing, he would have to conclude the opposite, and consider a ban might be appropriate. That seems unlikely, so probably indeed a mistake.0 -
The most likely reason the OPs case being shifted to a court appearance is that a topping up ban.I assume you mean "totting up" ban. In which case, possibly not:Seems they are out to get me. In 25 years, never been stopped by cops, no record and zero points on my license. Now I am dragged to court.1

Why would a magistrate think so differently, than a cop on the road? One said 3 points and 100 quid and other says court and T ban?0 -

Let them ban me, what can I say or do differently, that will make a difference? I already apologized to the cops in person and wrote a letter of apology to the SJP.1 -

Try this one
.Andrew Thompson, Barrister (counsel.direct)
He posts on Pistonheads and gets good reviews. But, as he's a Barrister I doubt he'll be cheap.1
