Securing Google accounts whilst phone unlocked

Afternoon.

I recently read a thread whereby someone had their phone stolen with it unlocked (whilst being used), and it got me thinking about how to protect my google accounts (gmail/drive), if my phone were snatched whilst taking photos, for example.

Currently, I appear to be logged in all the time, and i just tap the icon to open these.   This is handy, for me, but seems open to abuse.

I did find the option to add a fingerprint login, for google accounts, but that doesn't seem to have changed anything.   I can't find a logout option.

What am I missing?   Thanks.

Within your Google account you can sign out a device.  i.e If I lost my iPhone, I can sign that device out of google using my Mac book.

    Not sure if that helps.

    Kind Regards,

Samsung phones (and possibly others) have a secure area that requires additional verification (fingerprint/face/password) where you can put the apps for things like email, file access (local and cloud) and banking.

Not exactly what you need but I note that my Outlook app requires a fingerprint for access, access your Gmail via Outlook?
  • Some phones have app lock you can set up a different pin password for them ,  I used a honor device for while and you could lock any app using face or pin

    Thanks.

I've got a Motorola G5.   I'm not sure what functions it has, to lock apps, or put them in a secure place/folder.

I've tried to set up Moto Key*, but it doesn't seem to want to work.

I see where the option is to sign-out of account from the laptop, but most likely that, if it happened, it would be whilst we are away from home, so wouldn't have quick access to it.

Could I use my husbands phone to log into my account, via the website, and then log out from there?    Assuming I can remember my "manual" log in details!!!

*not sure what that is TBH.
