You also take your chances with customs, although the last time I was actually stopped and had my baggage checked was about 20 years ago. Everyone seems to just go down the nothing to declare exit.
That’s pretty much encouraging smuggling. It’s rather like saying that there aren’t many staff at duty free so you could probably get away with stealing the cigarettes!

Just because you can do something illegal, doesn’t mean you should.

The Duty Free stores at UK airports are likely to have good offers if you pre-order for Reserve & Collect.
Assuming they do tobacco deals - I have no idea.

Their prices at Gatwick last November weren't that uncompetitive leaving the UK without pre-booking. £50something for a block of Marlboro Red. We were going to France, so they were cheaper in the airport than outside at either end.

Buy your cigarettes in Gibraltar - much much cheaper than duty free.

As in the 2010 general election, and pretty much every one since, including the one next month, it appears securing our borders has been the governments top priority - maybe after over a decade of failure they will get them secured soon :)

Hardly encouraging smuggling ,the customs are probably trying to catch people with drugs rather than 100 extra cigs , the people with 2 suitcases full if tobacco products is a different matter.

    Exactly.
The latter are "at it" and having a laugh, so no sympathy for them.
