I am travelling from Gibraltar to Manchester and have heard you can buy 600 cigarettes on board the flight. Is this true as I understood that I was only allowed a 200 limit?

Well yes but you could buy 600 and then split it between three of you....
Suspect airlines are more than happy to sell you but its your responsibility to know what you are actually allowed to bring in.0 -
As above there’s a difference between what you can buy and what you can import.ldown65 said:I am travelling from Gibraltar to Manchester and have heard you can buy 600 cigarettes on board the flight. The Duty Free stores at UK airports are likely to have good offers if you pre-order for Reserve & Collect.Assuming they do tobacco deals - I have no idea.

You can bring as many as you want in, just declare them
However ...Got stopped a few years ago with 400 over, I used to flog em' at work to pay for airport parking or taxi's - yeah I know, terrible.Anyway the customs guy was so dissapointed we didn't have cases full he just told us to stick to the limit next time and rushed off to stop someone else leaving us to re-pack everything in the customs hall on the benches. We got to keep (and flog) the extra, but I have to say I was a bag of nerves !!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
They carry -
Marlboro Gold (200/400/600)
Sterling Duel (200/400)
Lambert & Butler (200/400/600)
Benson & Hedges (200/400/600)
Golden Virginia (250g/500g)
Amber Leaf (250g/500g)0 -
Unless the airline contacts customs to say “Passenger in seat H25 bought 600 fags, you might want to stop him”IvanOpinion said:You also take your chances with customs, although the last time I was actually stopped and had my baggage checked was about 20 years ago. Everyone seems to just go down the nothing to declare exit.
Not suggesting that will happen, but I guess it could0 -

The cabin crew get commission on sales. Chances of this are very low.

Once they’ve sold them they’re not going toMr.Generous said:LightFlare said:

And that would encourage future sales how exactly?

That’s pretty much encouraging smuggling. It’s rather like saying that there aren’t many staff at duty free so you could probably get away with stealing the cigarettes!IvanOpinion said:You also take your chances with customs, although the last time I was actually stopped and had my baggage checked was about 20 years ago.
