Was the prison sentence for defrauding that sum of money? I investigated benefit fraud from 1995- 2018. During that time, the overpayment was not written off because of a custodial usually. They will defer collection during the time someone is in custody- hence the courts not making an immediate compensation order.
They can attach your earnings or any future benefits to recover it.I would recommend that you contact a welfare rights advisor, so that they csn advise you.0 -
