One a personal level (just one case proves nothing) I had reassessment  paperwork after 9 months after moving from IBESA Support group to UC, I didn't submit any CoC. Could be I was just unlucky and would have had one anyway, or moving it trigger one faster.

One thing is for certain if the DWP stick to moving everyone over from IBESA to UC by December 2025 then it would be imposable to trigger that many reassessments.

Yes, they do still do a few of the backlogged ones from time to time - if they have the spare capacity to fit some in.
Which depends on how many new ones they have had referred, if there are less new ones to assess then they can fit in some backlogged reassessments.
But new/ first time claims for LCW rightly take priority over those who are already in a group and just overdue for a reassessment.
As you say luck of the draw and I wouldn't have a clue how they decide which of the thousands (millions?) of backlogged ones to fit in.
It's also a good point about the Managed Migrations.

Could I ask, if you are on contribution based ESA, will it eventually migrate to Universal Credit? I've just done it the other way, left UC for ESA as I wouldn't be entitled to it when my dad passed away due to inheritance.

No, as UC is an income related benefit and Con/ New Style ESA isn't.

Paper based assessments if they have enough history on claimants is how many could be quickly achieved without assessments. And unless you contact them you won't really know unless you see on a letter we've looked at your claim. There must be lots of clear cut cases that are will be automatically awarded with the information available. Pointless costly process to tax payer to assess people to get the existing outcome. Same people doing the assessment same outcome as previous tests.

    Hello Muttley,
You can get an immediate review if:
*ESA is overdue for review, which means, if the ESA decision made in 2018 set the review for 2 years, it would now be overdue.
*The decision maker who adds the award onto UC (from ESA) decides it should be reviewed. This applies if ESA was overdue or not.

As with anything, what individual cogs in the machine do is not always the same, so you might have the ESA office send the wrong ESA review date to UC, (for example, ESA might send the current postponed review date rather than the original review date). Or you might have UC DMs more inclined than others to order an immediate review.
The point is that a review is not overdue because the timescale they give is just a guide and doesn't mean you will be reviewed at that time. LCWRA/Support Group are ongoing awards until a new decision says otherwise. I also believe for the majority of people that reviews for those with LCWRA and Support Group are still suspended.

I've heard of many people that claimed UC from ESA back in 2018 and 19 and still not had a review.
I claimed CBESA way back in 2010 and placed in the support group. I've not had a single reassessment. i can only assume they've been doing paper reviews.

Just had our migration notice, am expecting to have to poke the DWP that I am already in support group.

Just an update for people, after calling the UC helpline to ask about whether i needed to supply a fit note and them not seeming to know I called the CAB again and they confirmed that Income based ESA support group should be carried over and put under LCWRA but there seems to be a lot of confusion out there.
I put a note on my journal saying i had contacted the CAB UC helpline and the UC helpline also contacted the job centre. They then put a note on my journal cancelling my work commitments interview and putting me into the LCWRA group.
It was a really stressful week though & made me really ill for no reason.
I f they are saying that  to everyone god knows how many wasted gp and job centre appointments there are when it’s not needed.
It wouldn’t surprise me if i do get reassessed just because i’ve probably annoyed a few people!
Maybe people are getting confused because things might be different if you aren’t migrating from tax credits I don’t know but it’s a shambles

The confusing messages, uneccessary appointments, etc., etc. were supposed to be sorted out (so that they didn't happen) before they started managed migration from ESA - that was one of the reasons for delaying those migrations until 2028 so that they could get such changes in place first.
But then of course they changed the timetable, and so now managed migration from ESA are taking place without those changes having been made.
And yes, as they currently are those unecessary messages/appointments can be very confusing if you don't know which ones you can ignore because they will be cancelled before they happen.

The migration of ESA with Housing Benefit various dates 2028/9 date needs some confirmation, especially as we have a change of government, so there's a lot of confusion with Support Group with housing benefit/housing allowance and if and when they'll get the migration notification. Currently I see people asking is it starting in September 2024 or 2028 I think Labour policy on this needs some updated confirmation. It seemed very rushed and will cause a lot of errors.
