OP your best hope here is that nothing turns up. 
You will have to wait 15 days Visa. Before you can do a chargeback.
As card holder made transaction, this can not dealt with as fraud. So it is going to be done to a dispute. If something does turn up then if you have invoice stating hedge trimmer & amount. If something else turns up will be looking at goods not as described.

But 99.9% certain this is a scam site.

Just do a WhoIs on the domain.

Okay, i was not aware such security was worthless.

It's not worthless (it provides a secure channel for making online payments) but it says nothing of the bona fides of the site operator.

Thanks for those scam checking links. At least am fairly confident there won't be malware on my desktop linux system as have never been aware of it in over 20 years and believe it uses some kind of sandboxing security.

Very informative about likely outcomes, at least there is now a chance of a recovery. I didn't know about the 15 day Visa rule, my bank didn't volunteer that.

A follow up for those interested. The Singapore hotel business sent email today saying they had captured the transaction as a fraud case and to contact my visa card issuer. They also suggested filing a police report. My bank then raised a case with visa and visa quickly refunded all costs. My bank said there was no need to approach police as was an international transaction. A lucky escape from my carelessness, watch out everyone for a switcheroo of details when the authorisation code for payment from your bank arrives !
