Visa payment error

Advice appreciated for an error i made while trying to pay for a product via VISA.
The product was on a website that corresponding to a business in Belfast and i received a mobile text confirmation code but didn't check the details of the payment properly as code arrived just as was waiting for it.
In hindsight the details of the payee and amount were wrong but my bank have told me to continue making inquires with the business i believe received the payment, found after my own web search of the statement details, possibly (!) a hotel group in Singapore. The bank have given no timescale for this process even though have already waited beyond payment pending and 3 days with no response from Singapore. The Singapore business, Resorts World Sentora, did initially send three emails over 31 May and 01 June asking for transaction details which were provided.
So my little £50 hedge trimmer has hooked a fee over £500 including currency conversion charges. I never experienced or heard of this switcheroo of details happening.
This VISA card isn't a credit card hence this banking subforum.

I have also sent an email today to the business whom i intended to purchase from but they have not responded yet and it is very unlikely in my opinion they received payment as showed no confirmation of purchase on the website or via email.0

So how did you receive a text confirmation with the wrong details on?
As retailer site you were on requests authorisation from bank who then send code with their details in to confirm purchase.
I would go back through your browser history & check that you were on the correct site, as what you are saying does not make sense, unless you were on a wrong site.
Which site were you on? I know you can't post links, but add spaces and it will post.Life in the slow lane1 -
My browser history shows intended purchasing site as anticipated gardenhandtoolssale dot com via a desktop computer and the confirmation code text came via a separate mobile phone number. Yes it makes no sense, there was a temporal glitch on the mobile phone, it actually sent two separate confirmation codes, a few moments apart with the same wrong amount and wrong payee. But i was primed to make a payment so still didn't question it at the time.0

gardenhandtoolssale.com looks a little dodgy to me, they can't seem to make their mind up as to their business name or products.
Their 'about us' page, for example, claims they sell clothes to last a lifetime, with great gingham fabrics. https://www.gardenhandtoolssale.com/about-us/ It looks like a classic lazy cut'n'paste for a hastily built dodgy website.
And it's not clear where they are shipping (assuming they do) from (they seem to be US-based).
Not a site I'd ever buy from!
Edited to add: the website is only 124 days old too. Not a sign of an established reputable company. https://whois.domaintools.com/gardenhandtoolssale.com
Edited to add more: And googling using their product descriptions shows identically-worded products from, er, Homebase, as if it's a cloned product list.
Happy to be wrong but you may have been had. Not a Visa error but very possibly a user error4 -
To the scam flags, add an address in Belfast, with a Chester postcode4

Gardenhandtoolssale have a secure connection status so can offer privacy with passwords and credit card details, that would have given me some confidence.0

That just means that the Bad Actors in China have paid a fiver for an SSL certificate.
Sorry, but I think you've been had.0 -

Zanderman said:A secure connection simply means they tick the boxes to take your payment. It's no indication of a reputable company at all, just a reputable system to take your money!
Resorts World Sentosa does at least appear to be legit.
Apologies for earlier typo, it is not Sentora.0
