Natwest bank switch starting to go wrong months later ?

I did the bank switch to natwest in March. Everything went smoothly then I had my car insurance claiming that my bank had cancelled the direct debit and therfore no payment had been taken. I contacted Natwest who said nothing of the sort had happened, the payment had been taken as normal and I have the payment reference. I mentioned the bank switch , but as they had happily taken the DD from the new account on 1st April , I assumed everything was fine. It caused a blazing row - why was the DD okay one month then not the next ? I thought it was a one off. Then yesterday another of my regular DD'S was not taken and I had to pay with my debit card over the phone . Why would the DD fail after what is now 2 months after switching ? And 8s there a connection ?

There was a similar post a while back and I think what happens is this.
The first time someone tries to take a DD from your old account after switching the new bank pays the DD and informs that someone of the new account details and expects them to update their records. If that doesn't happen then the second and subsequent DDs can run into problems. So it's probably the companies requesting the money at fault.
If you ever lose out due to one of these mess-ups be sure to challenge it and chase to get your costs back under the switching guarantee.

Although I'm not sure what happens if things like car insurance are invalidated without your knowledge!

As said it's likely the vendor not updating details. When the second DD is attempted your original bank then replies saying the DD is cancelled as the account is closed.
The vendor the cancels the DD. Causing your issues1 -
Is the DD with Premium Credit, I had the same Issue with them and Halifax, never got to the bottom of it with each blaming the other so had to set a New DD up, cost me a black mark on my credit file for the pleasure.1
