Hello, I hope that someone can help me. My wife received a letter from TNC Parking Services regarding a Parking Ticket issued to a car that was, apparently, carrying the same registration as hers. This letter claims that the car is a Black Volkswagen. Hers is a Red Seat. This "offence" happened in Catford Green Road, London SE6 4RJ. This postcode, if you Google it, is no longer in use and Catford Green Road doesn't seem to exist either. It also claims that she was parked on Double Yellow Lines.
Neither of us have been anywhere near the area for years (we live about 20 miles away from the area) and I suspect that there may be a Black Volkswagen running cloned plates, although I would have expected to have received other fines as well by now. The police aren't interested.
We have now received a "Notice of Intention to Instruct Solicitors" letter, dated 27th May giving us 7 days to settle this "debt", which I don't intend to pay. Should I wait for this to appear at court or what is my best recourse. This seems to me to be demanding money with menaces.
Many thanks for you help and understanding.

The best recourse is to read the NEWBIE sticky where you will find the advice you need.2

Who has sent this "Notice of Intention to Instruct Solicitors" letter?
As it only offers you seven days to respond, I suspect this is nothing more than a debt collectors letter.
The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collector's letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.4 -
I was going to say this could be an ANPR misread, however you say it was a DYL parking claim suggesting it was a misread by visually challenged parking dimwit or as you suggest a cloned plate, which is not very usual.

The recipient needs to raise a complaint with TNC (and with the DVLA for giving out the data of a different vehicle that the one in TNC's pictures). Include photos of your car in the complaint and tell TNC and the DVLA that this is a likely ANPR misread and the PCN must be cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi Coupon Mad,
Thanks for your advice. The letter from TNC is attached and I've taken the liberty of blanking out our details. Any other advice would be useful.
Many thanks again.0 -
