halifax clarity - I want to pay it off but still pending after 2 days

If you have Revolut then you can top it up using Halifax Clarity (it's not a cash advance hence no interest at all) and withdraw from Revolut.0

thank you all and all sorted plus lesson learnt. It isn't so much stressing, finance and budgeting is one of my things unfortunately. Call it a "compulsion" if you will.1

I've withdrawn abroad loads of times with my Clarity, waited for it to debit and then paid it. It's never charged me interest from the date of withdrawal, no interest at all ever been charged. So although the T&C's say that, the reality is something different.Armengar said:thank you all and all sorted plus lesson learnt. Also if you were a few days late it literally pennies in interest.1 -
I think you are overthinking and money saving to the extreme. You have no doubt saved a fair bit using your Clarity against many other cards. A couple of days interest will be pennies. Just check every couple of days and pay off. Spend your time researching your next holiday / if those pennies bother you get a Barclays Reward card for your next trip and keep both in your wallet.1

Ok Halifax seem to be different to some others. But it is not them holding debit up. That is down to the ATM fully requesting the amount from Halifax.Armengar said:The halifaborn_again said:
The halifax card app says this:Interest is from when it debits.
Credit systems do not update in the same way as current accounts, as well as oversea's atm do not update in real time like UK ones. Also amount maybe different due to exchange rate, which is calculated when it debits, not when made.
Odds on Monday later on or tuesday.
Depends on just when their credit system updates.
Pointless complaint as when it debits is out of their hands.
"We wont charge interest on pending transactions unless youve made a cash withdrawal. Well charge interet from the date of withdrawal"
This is all fine and good but Halifax can hold a pending for 2 days so far, this is why I asked about complaint - it might only be 2 days interest (so far)
I cant take screenshots as the phone wont let me, it says something about security restrictions.Life in the slow lane0 -
I had a query and the query was answered. I have now learnt a new trick to "push" the money rather than "pay it". My own particular peculiarities regarding planning shouldnt have a bearing on being extreme. I know I have a, lets say, neural divergent personality and these are some of my triggers - whilst it is quite easy for people to step back and say "it will only be pennies", my thought process cannot think along such simple lines, my thought process is "Halifax wont let you pay, they will charge LOTS in interest as this will stay locked in pending" and so forth, I envy the fact that you can think "it will only be pennies and wont matter" as my mind cannot do this, it WILL keep me awake biting my nails. This is because it is something that isnt my perceived fault (If I miss a payment or make a mistake, this is not a trigger and wouldnt bother me. However, because it is out of my control it will set off a "worry" so to speak)Andy7856 said:I think you are overthinking and money saving to the extreme. To my shame, in all my years of banking (I do have a Barclay reward card and I know how much the cost would have been to withdraw) I am ashamed to admit that I did not think of transferring money in! I should have remembered from my old days of egg card stoozing as im sure I would have pushed and pulled money at some point.
Thank you for everyone who helped put me on track.

Use a travel friendly debit card instead0

To be honest there is no harm applying for a Rewards now ready for your next trip. Quite recently I could not use my Hfx card but could use my Rewards, perhaps Hfx were having issues at the time. So belts and braces would be to have both. Rewards also gives you the cash back as an added bonus so I tend to use it as my day to day card in the UK as well.
Your sorted which is the main thing.
