halifax clarity - I want to pay it off but still pending after 2 days

in Credit cards
I made an ATM withdrawal on holiday (EU cash machine withdrawal and charge in euros). Previous balance on my Clarity card was zero (nothing outstanding). I understand that interest is applied immediately for ATM use so I want to pay this off. However, after 2 days it is still "pending" and it wont let me pay off the pending amount. How can I avoid interest? Is there mileage in complaining? I want to pay off and avoid interest but halifax wont let me.

Interest is from when it debits.
Credit systems do not update in the same way as current accounts, as well as oversea's atm do not update in real time like UK ones. Also amount maybe different due to exchange rate, which is calculated when it debits, not when made.
Odds on Monday later on or tuesday.
Depends on just when their credit system updates.
Pointless complaint as when it debits is out of their hands.Life in the slow lane0 -
Keep trying each day and keep a screen shot of any time it's refused. If once it's finally paid and you get charged interest back to day 1 that's the time to complain. It's possible that this might be a delay for the weekend but I'd tell them you shouldn't be penalised for their systems not working in an up to date fashion.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. "We wont charge interest on pending transactions unless youve made a cash withdrawal. Well charge interet from the date of withdrawal"
This is all fine and good but Halifax can hold a pending for 2 days so far, this is why I asked about complaint - it might only be 2 days interest (so far)
I cant take screenshots as the phone wont let me, it says something about security restrictions.0 -
I don’t understand this. I do this all the time. I withdraw cash, work out how much it cost me by checking my available balance and subtracting from my credit limit. I then transfer the result immediately from my current account.I last did this on Thursday.1

I cannot. when I click "pay" this is what it says:
"The most you can pay is £0.00. you cant select the balance because you cant pay more than you owe"
If I type a manual amount in, I get a message saying "You cant pay more than you owe".0 -

this I have never done. Do you mean "send" money to halifax clarity? I have looked up on halifax to try and find the sort code and account number (I assume 16 digit clarity for the reference) but cannot find it.
https://www.halifax.co.uk/creditcards/ways-to-pay-your-credit-card/pay-from-another-bank.html
this has a section "pay from another bank" but doesnt say what the account or sort code is - it only talks about using the app (which wont work for me on a zero "only pending" balance) Does anyone have a link to the halifax page with sort code and account number? Obviously I wont trust someone posting one :-)0 -
I started an online chat with halifax and got the sort code and account number from the chat (and used my clarity card as reference). Im not going to post it here as people shouldnt trust random account and sort codes in forums! I couldnt find it on their website though. Ive pushed the amount from my bank, there will be a bit of interest but that has taught me to use my bank payee "same day" in the future.0

I think you're unnecessarily stressing about something of little consequence when you should be enjoying your holiday.
I use Clarity regularly to withdraw cash abroad. It's the cheapest, or close to the cheapest way of doing it.
Once it has moved from pending to being on the account I pay it off. 200 euros over a few days results in around 30p of interest. The money you save on exchange rates and cash advance fees handsomely compensates for any interest costs.
I also have my Halifax clarity saved as a payee in my online banking from another bank and can send them money whether it has cleared pending or not.
I'm fairly sure I got the details you need from a clarity statement. From memory there is a generic sort code and account number which is the same for everyone and you use your card number as the reference.
Can you get a pdf statement from the app? Does it explain different payment options?
Apologies - I see you resolved it and said so before I posted.0 -
On the back of the statement it gives the sort code to use and your card number, under the telephone banking heading, use this for a faster payment.
FWIW, my Barclaycard gives free ATM withdrawals at commercial rate and no interest if paid off at due date.0
