August Beach holiday-Short flight and not too hot

Hi, we don't do many holidays so would appreciate some feedback please. Looking for beach holiday in August for a family of 4. Don't want to travel more than 4 hours maximum, ideally closer to 3. So probably Spain or Portugal? I know weather is unpredictable but is there anywhere where it won't super hot? Thanks for reading my message.

Maybe play around with this? Although having said that, the last two June holidays  in Croatia and in Zante, the weather was very atypical and very hot.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Porto Santo.  4 hour flight, rarely gets above 25 degrees, miles of beach.

The 'Danish Riviera' would fit your bill.

Nearly 50 miles of glorious beaches, safe bathing, classic promenades and cosy seaside resorts. Ideal for children. August temp around 26 degrees. London to Copenhagen 2 hours.

Perhaps the Cascais coast on the Portuguese Riveria, around Estoril.  Shortish flight to Lisbon. Weather should be sunny but the breezes from the Atlantic keeping things tolerable. Nice beaches.

Spain and Portugal are likely to be too hot at that time of year...

Check out the Baltic coast: if cost is not a major consideration you cannot do better than the Baltic coast of Germany (what they call the Ostsee). If you want lower prices then go further east, to Poland; Lithuania; Latvia and Estonia.

I'm actually going there in 2 days!

Along with this theme, any of the canary islands (though you'd probably want to do some research on the hotels if you're going for a holiday island like Ibiza with your family!) or Madeira/Porto Santo.

Not only short flight times for them, but as Porto Santo is quite a small Island, the transfer is like 20 mins! Perfect if worried about kids.

Temperature is supposed to be about 23-ish degrees when we go. Only a couple of degrees hotter in August.

Barra, lovely beaches and you get the excitement of landing on the beach.
Had a lovely couple of weeks there once, always wanted to go back, you do not get fresher seafood than at source.

Did you unearth any of the legendary whisky stash from the shipwrecked SS Politician reportedly hidden all over the island ?
That would make a return visit attractive !!!

Enjoy.  'Quite small' being the understatement.  Rent a car and you can cover every road and track in half a day!

Restaurante O Calhetas does a mean 'prego' for lunch.
