    Bit of an update my insurers have got more details from the emergency plumber and hes dropped the builder right in it so insurance company are about to ruin his day I think.

    Arguably his day is more ruined if he doesn't have insurance... insurers will put charges on properties, get third party debt order etc as mechanisms to get money out of people that owe them

    Well it seems he does not have insurance for plumbing work anyway.
    Insurer is onto it - the claim is likely to be over £10K so I guess its worth their while for now.
    Got reports from both plumbers (emergency one, and one who fitted a new shower subsequently) categorically indicating that he caused the problem and there were no other issues with the pipework.

    I'd feel a bit sorry for him if he hadn't been such an a@se about the whole thing and tried to blag his way out of it. Also, not being insured when things like this happen is a bad idea and hes going to have to deal with the consequences.

    Good for me because it'll wipe the claim off my record and I'll get the excess back if they recover.
