Damaged used car

Hi , I purchased a used Jaguar xe 7 days ago aprrox 20k . Prior to purchasing the vehicle it had been agreed with the garage that they would refurbish the alloys. I was sent a video of the refurb works and the wheels looked fine. A few days later I was asked to send payment and completed paperwork and collected the vehicle. I had not been given the opportunity to inspect the vehicle before completing the paperwork... Immediately drove it home parked on the drive and noticed damage to front and rear bumpers and paint work damage to the boot lid. After back and forth with the dealership they have said that the vehicle was undamaged when they had it and are not responsible for damage occurring after I purchased it... However on closer inspection of the video sent of the refurb works the damage to the bumpers is visible in the video. I have a meeting with the dealership next week and any advice would be appreciated. My preference would be to return the vehicle as it appears to have been involved in a low speed collision.

Can you drop it off there now, and hand over the keys? Them dragging it out for another week isn't helpful. Apart from anything else it means you've got to store and insure it while it lies idle for a week.

This is the 2nd case in the past month or so of someone spending quite a lot of money on a vehicle and not checking it over when collecting it.Can I ask why that never happened because it would have been very much easier to reject the car based on any damage before you drove it away?0

So the damage occurred sometime after you bought it, if you didn’t notice it when you test drove and viewed it. You suggest the damage is a consequence of a low speed collision, which therefore occurred between purchase and collection. They are suggesting the damage occurred after you collected it.
How long have you been in possession of the car? You say you bought it seven days ago. Has the wheel work been done since or do you mean it was handed to you seven days ago after the alloy work?1 -

If you’re certain the damage wasn’t present at the point of sale (and you did say in your opening post that they claimed it wasn’t damaged before you took possession of it), and you have a video showing its presence after the wheel work and before you collected it, tell the dealer that when you reject the car. The video you have sounds like it blows a hole in their reasoning that it wasn’t damaged when they handed the car over to you. If it ever ended up in court, it sounds like you’ve got very good evidence that the damage wasn’t caused by you.1 -
