Non Payment of ISA funds since the death of a husband

Good evening all,

I am seeking advice to this problem - My father in law passed away on the 26 Nov 23 who had an ISA with Virgin Money.  To date this still has not been paid to my mother in law despite them having everything they need paperwork wise since Dec 23.  Every time she phones them she gets told its in hand but its now over 6 months.

We have tried to get the ombudsman involved but they say they cant help.

Is there any advice out there as my mother in law has been treated disgracefully.  Thanks

Tom

    Presumably your MIL has probate?

Has she been through the VM complaints process?  If so, then she should be able to get FOS involved after the earlier of a final response or eight weeks....

If FOS gave another reason for refusing to help, what was it?

What reason does VM give for the delay?

She may not have been.  We have insufficient info.  For example, if probate is required, then you can be looking up to 12 months.

Without knowing the reasons for the delay (and there will be a reason), its difficult to comment.

No reason given, they have even said they have everything they need from months ago.  They keep paying £150 compensation for each complaint made (up to 4 now) - not much for them owing £14,000

At £150 a time I would hope they do not pay out to quickly.
At 5% interest you would get £700 for the year.
One more complaint and you doing better than interest.
Plus when they eventually pay out you will top out at 10% plus.
    Complain, complain, complain.
    Take their money.
Laugh all the way to the bank.
I get around 1k a year complaining, when banks, building societies, regular savers, Amazon, anyone else I order from.
    Screws up.
Nationwide just denied me a £200 bonus for switching.
One complaint got me the £200, plus £100 good will gesture.
£100 for 20 minutes on the phone.
