Tight squeeze

Hi all, I just moved into a TW Baxter which I love. Ideally I’d like to put a full size double bed in bedroom 2 (guest bedroom) but I’m not convinced it won’t look a bit crammed in. Can anyone give a view on whether a double bed would look out of place and which orientation is better ? The dimensions are 2.59m x 3.33m.
My plan B is to buy a Queen size instead.

    I assume there is a radiator under that window? If so you could only really put it in the orientation in the floor plan.

    What is the width of the room where the head of the bed is between the window and the bit that cuts in to the room?
    Eyeballing it, it looks about 1.95m.

    I think a standard double would look fairly tight but probably ok for a guest room. You would want a bedframe with as narrow a headboard as possible to maximise the space at the bottom of the bed.

    probably find the best thing would be a standard double with no footboard on the frame

    A standard double would fit under the window and project less into the room than the single shown leving a square area at entrance. It is only a guest room so no need to access both sides regularly. Suggest ottoman bed for storage, similar arrangement in our holiday let and no complaints.

    What size is a “full size double bed “?  Do you mean 4’6”, and the Queen size is 4’?
    No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    That’s a similar size to my spare room.  I’ve put a good quality sofa bed in there.  It opens up to a small double.  That way I can use the room for other purposes. A double bed would fill the space up and mean that it was so cramped that I had effectively lost the use of a room.

    I think you mean King size? In UK mattress sizes are...
    Double = 135cm x 190cm
    King = 150cm x 200cm
    We don't commonly have something called a Queen - sometimes Queen is used to refer to a small double (122cm x 190cm).
    But the term can cause confusion as a US Queen (152cm x 203cm) is about the same size as a UK King.

    We have a similar sized room with standard double ( width 135cms/4'6'') . It is to one side, rather than in the middle and leaves quite a lot of room. However we do not have the part that cuts in on the floor plan.

    Now there’s an idea - hadn’t considered that. A good quality sofa means I get more use out the room when no guests staying, and I could put in a chest of drawers (even if they are less accessible when the sofa bed is occasionally extended ).
