Pay off £8000 in a year challenge...

Ok debt busters heres a different challenge that falls somewhere between the pay off £15000 & live off £4000 a year challenges, neither of which I could do! My aim this year is to pay as much of my CC's off as possible and obviously continue to pay my loans etc...anyone want to join me in this challenge?! The more the merrier! Start date 1st Jan, although all my bills etc are paid on 20th so my month will effectively be then each month but want to get started now rather than wait!

  • I'll join your challenge! Think I might be able to hit the £15,000 (hope so anyway!) but as I'm pretty new, think I might aim for something that I can succeed!

  • Oh great! Will update my sig now! I also hope to pay more but also want to have some treats along the way...I know I fail miserably otherwise so for me its about balance...

  • Count me in, please! I'm aiming at something around £9k for 2008, so this will really help to keep me motivated!

    Thanks :T

Hi ISOM, there's quite a few people on the 20k in 2008 challenge doing different varying amounts.

  • I would love to join in, but I have no hope of getting anywhere near £8k! Good luck though!

  • Thanks SC & Gemmzie - 20k is way too much for me & its good to have a challenge I feel I can achieve IYKWIM rather than feeling I've fallen below the target. Welcome meercat! If we can do more thats fab! For some reason I seem to do better when Ifeel I am overachieving than uderachieving as it spurrs me on. Hope other joiners find the same. Do you have a goal this year SC?

Sorry stupid question time but think I might be in on this challenge.

Are you including your standard monthly payments that you pay off your loans each month are do you mean £8k above those?

  • Hi there - I am inclusing the loans as they are debt payments at the end of the day & then my CC's are on top of this! That way by the end of the year I should be able to pay off more thus spurring me on to do even better! YOu in?!!

  • Not saying it is Gemmzie but I would rather have a target I feel I can achieve (& 20 isnt it!) & then surpass it - purely psychological but if t works for me then thats what I need to do. Nothing against the 20,000 one at all!
