Buying National Trust membership abroad

Has anyone taken out National Trust membership abroad? The cost is considerably less and they have reciprocal agreements with several other countries including NT and NTS.
Specifically, the Maltese NT is €40 for joint membership https://dinlarthelwa.org/membership/
Has anyone done this and been able to access NT properties the same as a UK member?
Is Malta NT the best option abroad and are there any residency restrictions?
Thanks in advance.
*Before anyone takes umbrage at this query, I have previously paid full price for NT membership and regularly use their cafes, book shops etc. I also was a member during the covid era and lost 50% of my membership, without a refund.

This used to be popular and has been debated at length on here in the past, although the threads seem to have gone.
I think at one time Bermuda was one of the cheapest with a reciprocal deal!
I don't have any details but I seem to remember that this "dodge" has been restricted / clamped down on in recent years. Even when it was popular it didn't cover car parking at UK properties.
I am sure the NT Scotland is still valid in the rest of the UK but again, check the parking position.0 -

The New Zealand loophole has evidently been closed as it's now $550 NZ (£265) for overseas family membership.

I did the New Zealand loophole a few years ago now, and we went somewhere; I think Dunham Massy, and the woman on the entrance called me and and raised her voice etc. Water off a ducks back for me, but my partner wasn't impressed0

Malta N.T. is still accepting overseas applications but I believe that they will now only send membership cards to a Malta address. Anyone with an existing membership will still receive their cards at UK addresses.

All the international loopholes seem to have been closed-I gave up and joined NTS saving circa £30 for a joint membership.0
