British ISA and The General Election

Options
Now the GE has been called I wonder if this will affect the launch of the British ISA, or even if it will go ahead if Labour should win the election ?

I believe an announcement regarding the details of this new ISA was due after 6 June once the consultation process re finer details of the ISA had. Even completed.

Did you Google it? This is from this morning:

"“Labour has no plans to drop the British ISA,” a spokesperson told City A.M. “Labour wants to make it as easy as possible for people to feel the benefits of saving and investing their money, including through increased utilisation of stocks and shares ISAs.”"

Have markets priced in a small surge on UK equities resulting from an influx of liquidity? If not, any way to buy now and hold to convert later once announced?

I thought the markets expected few people to actually run for the product, and few providers to actually offer it.

Also what surge of liquidity? Apparently 3.9m people in UK have S&S ISAs. If each one of them opened a British ISA and fully subscribed it, that liquidity represents less than 1% of the market cap of the FTSE100.

Not sure many people really care that much. The British ISA did not exactly get an ecstatic reception when it was announced.

If you've lived through a General Election you will know that all the parties will be saying things with the express purpose of winning, or at least not losing, votes.

The eventual winner will then have no recollection of what they said
Or you could say that they say what the public wants to hear, rather than being truthful about the problems any new Govt will face. If they did the latter then nobody would vote for them, so.....

They haven't even managed fractional shares yet (unless I missed it). This is going to be a lot trickier to implement if they wish to do it well).
