Tracker - leave or disconnect? Any advice?
Looking at a used RR which I’m told by the JLR dealer has a Scorpion tracker fitted. The car’s had four previous owners and there’s no paperwork to show when it was fitted. My concerns are that should I buy it and there be any electrical issues that could be linked to its installation it may invalidate any warranty claim. The dealer is of a mind to leave it, it being a very good system that would only have been fitted by a Scorpion technician; the vehicle has yet to be thoroughly checked over, serviced and prepped and it’s anticipated that would pick up any issues. There’s apparently never been any earlier reported related issues, the warranty would be for a year, so safe to assume that alls well with its installation?
It would be shame to pass up on such a secondary layer of security but on the other hand if it does create problems . . . . It’s a head v heart situation. The dealer is happy for his workshop to remove it if I’d prefer, even though I’m yet to decide whether I want the car.
Anyone any thoughts?

As you are contemplating buying one of the most likely to be stolen brands on the market have you investigated insurance costs with and without the tracker?0

My feeling is to leave it, been there for some while without causing problem and it’s providing another level of security. Not certain yet that I’ll even buy the car.0 -
I would imagine as there's no paperwork for the tracker, you won't be paying the subscription so as a tracker it's totally worthless and won't help with reducing insurance as you can't access the service unless you can activate it with Scorpion and pay them the subs, though that might not be possible if it was on a fleet contract.
If it's just a straight tracker then it shouldn't be too problematic to remove or leave it in.
It would just use a very small amount of power, a few milliamps so shouldn't cause any problems (unlike the rest of the car)
If on the other hand it's part of a bigger security package with a Scorpion (Ghost) immobiliser it might be a bit more difficult to remove. It it is and you are contemplating removing it, consider getting a Scorpion technician to do it.
These types of immobilisers aren't design to just rip out.
As for the car, 4 pervious owners on the log book? (5 with the current owner) For a 6 year old car, that obviously has some paperwork missing might not be everyone's cup of tea.
Ok, it has a dealer warranty but even a full factory warranty from JLR can be pretty difficult to access, a lot of owners can attest to that.
JLR products come with big bills, both for parts and labour and a year is a very short time.
I suspect if it's just a straight tracker with no immobiliser and no paperwork for that it's probably been on some sort of fleet at some time, perhaps even passed around different keepers within the same company.
