I can't find any offcial statement about how much space needs to be allowed around a Mitsubishi heat pump. I'm interested in R32 or R290 models at the lower end of the power range 5-6kW

If you can find the model number of the one you are planning to get, the installation manuals have the outdoor spacing requirements around the outdoor unit:

If you choose an R290 model then the position of drains, and other low spots where the refrigerant might collect in the event of a leak, needs to be taken into account. Again, that will be in the installation manual.
From memory you need 300mm between the wall and the inlet (if it is at the back of the unit) and a metre clear in front of the outlet grille.1
