@PipneyJane I get something called chicorycup, or roasted chicory drink.
I can't seem to upload a picture at the moment.
I've also tried barleycup.
I cut out the caffeine for health reasons and found out that I could get a coffee alternative in Holland and Barrett and redbush (rooibos) tea in most shops as a tea alternative.Decluttering campaign 2023

Personally, I buy the more expensive, freeze-dried, decaffeinated instant coffee, to get one that tastes decent. (Mind you, I do that for regular coffee, too.). Did you know that decaffeinated coffee was discovered by accident? A container ship got into difficulties during a storm and a container full of coffee - and sea water - washed up on shore. The caffeine had been washed out, but the beans were otherwise unharmed.

I've lost the plot this month again - over £240 spent. I've worked out £64.55 of that figure is treats (coffee shop coffee, wine, ice cream cones, cream teas, fish and chips...) - compared to £183 'basic' food cost, so it's pretty clear where the potential savings are.Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 17.5 coupons remaining

I think they probably taste like a cheaper brand of coffee.
I don't mind it myself, but am more of a tea drinker and would drink it to change things up a bit.
I've spent £3.97 today in Sainsbury's on cottage cheese, vegan ham and reduced veg.
Yesterday, I can't remember if I declared it, I spent £5.21 on fruit and veg in Morrisons.
Edit to add, I may pop into a supermarket for some more salad bits and a few little bits.Decluttering campaign 2023

I have a small spend to declare from Thursday. Last year, I won a “year’s supply of Mackies Ice Cream”. (26 vouchers!). DH popped to Sainsbugs to pick up a tub to go with the strawberries we’d harvested that day. While there, he bought a hand of bananas. 64p spent.I’m declaring at 156.90/£162.30, with £5.40 to roll over to July.

Hi all, we're well over budget £535.83/£450. I've been so busy this month that I've not done a meal plan and for some convenience we've been having He!!o fresh boxes to add some variety to our meals. We have a selection of meals now that I can add into rotation with our regular favourites to continue to add variety even when I stop getting the boxes.
Just need to decide what to do about meals today - we're out over tea time tonight.Grocery Challenge 2024

Hi. Sorry but haven't kept exact tabs this month.
I'd like to start fresh for July with £100 for the month. Thanks 😊 x1 -
I spent £4.73 in Tesco yesterday on salad and yoghurt.
I've £5.11, which is going into the bulk fund.
Edit to add, I spent 50p on beetroot yesterday plus I completely forgot I'd bought salad and frozen fruit in Morrisons Friday, which came to £8.66.Decluttering campaign 2023

Well I thought I was done for the month but I popped to B&M while DS was at his sports club and managed to spend £8.94 on some ginger jam which I cannot resist, some useful snacks to take away with us at the end of July when we go camping, and a bottle of shampoo as mine is nearly finished. Thankfully I had left a bit of slack in the budget for last minute purchases and so I've come in under budget - woo hoo!
£246.30/£2504 -
I spent £4.99 in Sainsby's this morning on a double pack of rim block cleaner thingys for the loo because I discovered the previous one had completely dissolved yesterday. I know I could manage without this but cleaning the loo is one of most loathed jobs so I feel this is worth paying for. I also bought a replacement adapter plug for my toothbrush because the previous one cracked its ceramic pin which was annoying.
Then I spent £25.85 in M*rks on dried chipotle chillis, banana bag, ys oranges, ys lemons, ys limes, milk, gherkins, carrots, cabbage, romaine hearts, cucumber, tomatoes, chillis and cherry tomatoes for me and silken tofu, cashew nuts and a tin of fish for the food bank.
That makes my final total for this month GC £200.58/£150 which has made me decide to increase my budget for July and possibly the following months as well because eating more protein has been one of the things that has helped me to feel healthier over the last few weeks and that does cost more. Thankfully I can afford the budget increase. See you all over on the July thread.2
