Advice Please on Keeping Mobile Number

I currently have a pay monthly contract with Orange (Dolphin 35) that is shortly due to come to an end. I've seen the same plan available through Carphone Warehouse and it's a better deal as cashback, plus I can get money back through Quidco. If I decide to go with this deal, although thru Carphone Warehouse, I'll still be with Orange and will it be possible for me to keep my currently mobile number.
If so, how do I do this?
Thank you.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

I would suggest going onto the website for the network you intend to change to, I know you can keep the number if u take an O2 sim because the instructions are on line and i've just done it, changing for 02 pay as you go to 02 contract.

you cant change from your current orange cont
to a 'new orange cont through cpw with cashback and everything and keep the same number
it would be classed as an upgrade and cpw would ahve different deals for upgrades
if you get a new number you can do what you wantYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Hi Ms Chocoholic
You will not be able to port the number to another contract on the same network. You will have to change the network to port it. You first try haggling with Orange before you leave them. See bargaining tricks mentioned elsewhere in this forum.

Port your number to another network, and then port back to Orange when you need to for the new contract.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0

You need to port the number to a non Orange SIM card.
You can use a pay as you go sim, these are available for free or <£2 pounds from most airtime providers like O2, Virgin etc...
Then port your number from Orange to the PAYG SIM: Ask Orange for a PAC and give this to your PAYG SIM provider. They will port the number to PAYG.
Remember you have to give Orange 30 days notice for termination, and a PAC needs 30 days worth of contract left. The 2 are seperate processes but if the time remaining on your contact is <30 days you might not be able to get a PAC
Give the PAC to your new provider they will arrange the transfer. On the tradfer date your number will move to the new SIM. Your Orange contract SIM will no longer work.
Now your number is on the PAYG SIM and you can contact Orange to port your number from the PAYG SIM to your new Orange contract.
Check with CPW to see if you can arrange the port back to Orange after you have ordered the phone and check to see if the port will effect your cashback as after the port the number on the bill will not be the same as the number at purchase time.
Hope this helps.
It sounds complicated, but if you right it all down and get things done in order you should be fine.

dont think you can have the same number on the same network for a certain period of time, so it has to be away from orange for a few months at least i think
granted i havent tried it in practice just something to be aware ofYes Your Dukeiness0
