I know you've already noticed this, OP, but for others - we seem to have collectively decided the other thread is the place to reply.

HELP please. Hi All, I’m in need of some advice please. I’m with OVO energy and have just looked at fixing my tariff. However, I’ve noticed that this fix also includes fixing the standing charge which I understand is believed to go down after Ofgem have given them all a good shake up. So my questions are - do I fix now or wait to see what happens to the standing charge?
Also would this make them able to force me to have a “smart” meter which I don’t want?

    Many thanks in advance!

    They can do that anyway.

You have a different understanding to the rest of us then.  No plans for standing charge to go down very much in the near future.

And if you want access to the cheapest tariffs, get a smart meter.
