"Weather Phuket". That's just what I think when it rains at the weekend.

Wondering if anyone is in Phuket at the minute? Is weather sunny? Booked for silver wedding and was told it would be nice thereby travel agent. On BBC weather it looks awful. Do I need summer or winter clothes?

    thanks in advance

We are currently in Bangkok, it's rainy season, but still hot 35 degrees or more every day down to about 25 at night it's probably a little cooler in Phuket. You won't need warm clothes just t shirts & shorts. The rain showers are heavy but usually don't last long. Enjoy your trip!

Friends returned from Phuket 15 May. For the previous 6 weeks it had been hot (30+) humid with lots of short sharp torrential showers. They’re season visitors there but had to rearrange their days to early starts, several hours indoors with aircon middle of the day then later evening meals.
PLEASE take lots of mosquito spray and use it liberally.

You might be shocked to learn this....but they sell mosquito repellent in Phuket and beyond.
Seasoned visitors might choose somewhere with good airflow and sea breezes. I know I do. Haven't ever used my air conditioners, whatever the weather.

Indeed, and not so overpriced as it is in UK shops. Small bottles of Autan lotion cost about £1, effective, compact and available everywhere.

    Evolution, not revolution

Always better to buy the mozzie spray when you get there as it will be cheap and made for the local critters. There will be a 7 Eleven or other pharmacy on every corner.

Suntan lotion is different as that is better bought in the UK when it is on offer. Asian brands aren't designed for western skin types and often contain a bleaching agent.

Especially so if you only travel with hand luggage as you are limited to liquids.

I generally find that after a couple of days, the mosquitoes bother you a lot less.

Having been to Phuket several times, I would not be at all surprised to find mosquito repellent for sale locally.
However, it’s not always convenient to go shopping as soon as you arrive after a long flight and the mosquitoes are always hungry, sea breeze or no sea breeze. Dengue is endemic and having been hospitalised in 2018, with husband also infected but treated as an outpatient, as a seasoned traveler, my advice is to have some with you on arrival.
