I wrote a light hearted email to nestle (makers of buttons etc) because I was peed off with opening multi-packs of milkybar buttons to find some of the bags not sealed and loose buttons in the bottom.
It had happenned nearly every time I had bought a multi-pack, so wrote them an email through howtocomplain.co.uk just saying that I was miffed about it but would still buy there product and can they see if they can put it right ? !!
So only a week later a letter arrives on the mat (this morning !) with a massive explanation as to why is happens (production process off line) AND a cheque for £15 !!
I was NOT expecting that at all, so really chuffed !!
They have also asked for all packs of buttons to be returned if they are open and they will refund product and P&P, I won`t be doing that, as I could be returning them every week ! BUt its nice to know that the thought is there !
Nestle - top company !

Sorry, but Nestlé is not a "top company", as they are contributing to the deaths of many infants in developing countries by aggressively marketing baby foods, breaking World Health Assembly marketing requirements and contributing to the death and suffering of infants around the world.
They provide powdered infant milk for mothers, free at birth (oh, how kind) but stop after three months or so, strangely coinciding with the time when the mother's body stops producing milk as it isn't being used. Then they charge for the milk, and the mother has no option but to either pay for the milk or watch her baby die. This is the tip of the iceberg, as the water used to make the milk is often contaminated and often leads to babies' death.
Still think it's a "top company"?0 -
Crazy chemist,
You've quoted liz entirely out of context, as I'm sure you know. In the terms liz was discussing, the company are indeed a "top company". They have responded swiftlyto her issue and compensated her, which is more than she asked for. Maybe they could also have promised to check out the bag sealing process.
Your point is an equally valid one, but on a different subject. maybe you could start a thread on the vent board, or discussion time, about these companies?*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***

I knew this would be brought up yet again as soon as nestle is mentioned.. the op is saying how they find and they found them a top company..lets leave the politics out of this threadThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
I contacted Nestle once about a Kit Kat I had in a packet and it was solid chocolate and when I bit into it it chipped a filling etc so I wrote and mentioned it, and they sent me an explanation about why it had happened, a cheque for £10 and an offer to pay for my dental treatment but that wasn't necessary as I claim that on NHS.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Nice stories, but the deaths of babies in other countries being regarded as 'politics' is pure prejudice and possibly racism, in my opinion. If your children had been killed for the same reason, I doubt you'd have been quiet about it and branded it 'politics'. The fact is that as long as those suffering aren't us British or fellow Westerners, then that's ok, we can ignore it.
Not in my books. If something is wrong, I will speak up for it. I wish you would too. Nestlé are obviously scraping the barrel trying to keep the few customers they have left by the looks of their drastic and desperate attempts at offering to pay for dental treatment!0 -
Like I said earlier, crazy chemist, start up a thread in DT. You will prob get support over there, and at the same time be able to bring this plight to the attention of a lot of people. Over here, you are off topic and just getting feedback saying so. No-one is doubting your word (although you could offer a link to news stories to back yourself up...in DT!!), but this isn't the place. You are rightly passionate on your subject...please raise it where it can do some good! Then, a link to that page on here might be a good idea.

ps, this is just YOUR opinion, and, actually, quite offensive.
You would get a lot more support by begging for other's help than by attacking them.

I have to say I agree.
That was an intentionally personal attack on other posters for voicing an opinion against yours.
Im afraid for many when they read this thread, the focus won't be where those who started this thread had intended, or for that matter where you intended to distract them to, but rather the nature of your own aggression (Crazy chemist).
The thing that I will never understand about people who fight for what they think is right in this way (with aggression) is isn't the whole point of boycotting companies for cruelty to animals, humans or whatever that you are a kind, worldly aware and caring person. So how does this turn into such hate of anyone who doesnt immediately agree? Aren't you just tranfering the bullying from one to another!0
