ASHP and Solar Panels

My mother lives in a small two bed home with a 25 year old storage heater system. In early June she is getting an air sourced heat pump, radiators, new boiler and solar panels fitted. There is no charge as she qualifies for a full government grant. Work is being conducted via LMF.

My question is does she need to notify her energy provider or change to a more suitable energy tariff? Her current provider is Scottish Power.

Her new system consists of:
3.5kw Arotherm Plus Vaillant air sourced heat pump
8 Stelrad radiators
8 solar panels SolarEdge 2200h inverter

If I was your mother I'd be moving to Octopus, who offer a much wider range of tariffs to suit various combinations of heat pumps, solar and batteries. I'm assuming she has had a smart meter fitted. If she hasn't then that is a first priority, to get the maximum price for her solar exports (solar won't help much with the heat pump, as the output is seasonally opposite to the demand from the heat pump) and to pay the minimum for imports.

Yes she has a smart meter. Thanks for the suggestion regarding Octopus.

She will get a £50 credit if she uses a referral code. If she doesn't know an Octopus customer to get a code then the Gary Does Solar channel, on Youtube, has one. His explanations of the various Octopus tariffs are very good.

There are several threads about how bad Scottish Power are with setting up export payments, takes many months, lots of chasing and is quite a complicated process.

Octopus manage (usually) to get it sorted in a few weeks and the credits for export show on each monthly bill.
