Got the Tesco shop delivered today (used voucher so cost less than driving to the shop!) - they'd made some substitutions which cost more than what I'd originally chosen, so sent them back - I've never done that before! So total so far is £86.47 but that's all our meals planned for the month so just bread, milk and veg/fruit to get each week.
We have a local grocer but I've always shopped at the big supermarket - would it be really odd to go in armed with the T prices for the veg I need and only buy if it's cheaper? Just think I'm going to look really conspicuous in such a small shop comparing prices!January Grocery Challenge: £200 Spend £158.99

There have been loads of posts since I last logged on!!
Mr T delivered on Thursday - £74.70 - I'm chuffed, but I know it is partly because I had quite a lot of stuff left over from Christmas and before Christmas.
Mooloo - thanks for posting your meal plan, as I was trying to sort out my shopping list for next week, and my mind was a complete blank! Am going to try a goulash recipe, too.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Please can I join the grocery challenge? I'm new to this, so not quite sure what I'm letting myself in for!
Just guessing at monthly spend, usually about £150 - £200 at Tesco, plus various 'bits and pieces' locally, so I'll try £250 and see how it goes. That's for me, two ravenous teenagers and a cat!0 -
Oh, forgot to say I've spent £8.81 so far.
Don't know yet how to put that at the bottom of the message, off to read the FAQ and find out!0 -

I've now spent a vast amount. Or so it looks like, I've stocked the freezer, and stocked up on the julian graves sale. I had let the storecupboard get a bit empty, so I got some herbs and spices, pulses etc. Also got some flour etc (used it to make pancakes last night and they were yum!)
The other I spent mainly on meat, which made me wonder, what does everyone else expect to pay for meat?
For example I know I can get 2 chickens for £5 in tesco, but in my local market it will cost me £4 a chicken. Where as mince is normally cheaper in the market.
Sorry if this is going off topic, have updated my signature with my total.Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

I've added another £60 to my total today but I had to buy toothbrushes and shampoo and other things that will last a least the month. I also didn't stick 100% to my list and bought a few extras but they'll be used in meals next week so it'll all work out in the end.
Some great meal ideas - thanks  Will try and add some of those in next weekCC1 £5999 Total Debt March 2021 £5999

I've just discovered a good money-saving tip. When OH is paying for something in a shop I'll go to the till for him with his money. And keep a couple of pound coins from the change. My change purse is full of shiny pound coins now.
You may call it stealing, I call it sharing. :rotfl:2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0
