There seems to be quite a few websites with lists of what to do when - for example http://www.allotment.org.uk/garden_month.php has a monthly guide. Good luck!
Thanks, having had a skim read of that link it looks good. will have a thorough read later.0 -
Hi everyone!
I`m a bit late this morning as i`ve just been catching up on a few things.
We went late night shopping last night and i`m sure that i`m over my planned budget
We`ve got to go back to the shops later for a couple of things but it shouldn`t cost anything as ones to pick somethings up and anothers an exchange.
Hope that later when i finally have chance to sit down and work things out with what i`ve spent on the freezer budget my normal weekly shouldn`t have suffered too badly.
I have got quite a bit of stuff than will save in the long run but it just does NOT feel that way when you get to the till and see the totals GRRRRRR!!!
Hopefully i`ll pop back later with an updated sig.
Good luck to all who are hitting the shops today!

PS Dawnylou hopefully i can get back to you later with how i stopped my dogs from eating us out of house and home and they absolutely love it and are much healthier!Planning on starting the GC again soon0 -
If so Mr Ts reduce items in the late evening and they do not sell, when are they removed from the reduced counter? I start work at 6am and pass a Mr Ts on the way. Do you think the reduce items would still be there ?
I would think its a health and safety requirement to chuck everything at mignight.0 -
arrggghhhh, im starting lose track all ready of what im spending  picked up some more bits yesterday at mr t's. so have more than enough to last untill end of the week. going to have to dig out recieipts and look at online banking to work out what i have spent so far.Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400

already been to the market for fresh fruit and veg, and have a small shopping list for this afternoon (hubbys going blood doaning and Aldi is opposite so ill pop in there instead of tesco) eaten into a big chunk of my money already this week we got some dvd's from blockbuster last night and 3 birthday pressies from lush this morning (one was free and that cost almost as much as the other two)
shouldnt really have let these come out of my food money but budget is really tight in january and the cupboards are well stocked so it should be ok. I have made a note in my expences book so i can account for it later.
Im hoping to underspend on my weekly shops so i can save some for a bigger shop at say asda every 6 weeks or so. Does that sound a reasonable idea?SPC~12 ot 124

This thread has exploded!
OK so I worked out the damage for December (although I didn't join the challenge I kept receipts and wanted to see what 'not budgeting' was doing to us...) and it turns out we more than DOUBLED my usual goal of £50 a week! We spent £402.66 at supermarkets, and that's not including the once a week takeaway or the 3 trips to have lunch in Wetherspoons when the kids were at school! I seriously need to budget and have a budget for leisure/treats as well.
What does everyone else do with regard to their takeaways or treats/meals out? Do you budget for them seperately or include them on the month's grocery budget?IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
Wow this thread moves quickly! Just a quick update from me! HAve spent 36.19. Could have done it alot less but I decided to have a final weekend of wine & get some nice stuff as its the last for a good while & that came in at a eek 14!! Despite that managed to do a shop at lidl & sent £12 which s unheard of at Mr T! Also got a new strategy which is to have a separate grvery budget purse and just have cash for spending - 113.81 left for the month which I'm happy with as no more wine now! Also think the cash strategy is a good one as I am definately thinking more bout what I spend! Getting there! Also didnt splurge when I discovered that I had more money which is a first for me!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
