My Tesco's shop was a bit scary, but i had been running things down a bit.
I dont think the vodka and Southern comfort helped either but there are limits to what i will allow to run out! lol Seriously though the Vodka is an ingredient for possible gifts i want to try out and i dont go through that much SC. I was undecided whether to include them but i dont really have another budget yet. When i get a couple of hours spare i will go through all my budgets and see if i can get a realistic one for everything:idea:
anyway i added another 74.48 to the bill   . It should just be bits and pieces now until Feb. I have a good feeling i will be well under again, I just cant work out how i was spending so much before????
Anyway, if i can cut down like this on a regular basis I may just be able to go down to one job again and regain some quality of life!!!:T0 -
DH was away over the weekend so as it was just me and the girls went shopping and spent £50 on Friday, however brought loads and restocked with things to make easy meals with. Then (as no-one around to tidy up after me with a "you could do this as you go along" expression), we did loads of baking and scratch cooking. Dd1 had a cookbook for her birthday so we managed to work our way through a few (!) of those recipes. It does not follow that because they made it they will eat it!
Had a few ups and downs with the budget. Dh has been popping into supermarket for his lunch and picking up the BOGOFs and bargains. Next month will try to get organised and send him in with lunch.
We also had a takeaway tonight (despite having a cupboard full of food!), however it is my birthday so if you can't treat yourself then.... Think we've done alright but will leave the reality check of totaling up receipts for another day.0 -

Hi all,
i managed another NSD today so i`m quite pleased.
i may just manage one tomorrow as well fingers crossed but on Wednesday i will probably need to go to Asda for a few things that i need.
I`ll make a short list before i go and hopefully will be straight inand out as i don`t intend to go wandering around in there as it would be my undoing.
The big sack of dogfood is looking like it won`t last until the end of the week as they have both been eating a lot these last couple of days so i might just call for another on the way back from Asda as it will save me a trip this weekend.
I have just got the salmon out of the freezer for tomorrow, we are having salmon in dill with new potatoes and whatever veg i decide to do with it, maybe spinach but i`ll see what we fancy tomorrow.
Not long to go now, good luck everyone!

Oh help, dh has been to Mr T's this evening. He flirts with the RTC ladies and talks them into yellow stickering things! He just came back and is now trying to ram the fridge and freezer full of all his goodies. He appealed on freecycle last week for an extra freezer so he can buy even more... Problem is I can't keep track of all this food!
He bought a 1kg 'specially selected' spare rib pork joint tonight for 19p so I guess I'll slow cook that tomorow? Any ideas? I've never cooked one of those before...
Well, I must say I don't think we've ever eaten so well! :rotfl:0 -
Hi Frankerooney
thats made my mouth water just thinking about it.
I`d bung it in the SC with lots of chopped onions some hot water (a couple of inches) some red lentils and some dried sage, you can blitz the liquid afterwards to make thick sage and onion gravy.
YUM!!!

Hi. Thanks for your thoughts and advice. I have updated my sig, I've taken out birthdays, petrol and bits and pieces. Have just left food and cleaning/smellies from shopping. Feel much better now.
Next month will add in school stuff, though I have included school lunches as technically food!
Hopefully won't go over now!! Nice onENeed to sort my life out! :T0 -
Time for another update plus a word of warning
Do not take OH food shopping !!
The last 2/3 weeks I have done really well with the challenge but I took him with me on Sat (ok he asked to come) and we spent £96.00  .
Once I'd sorted out the receipt (as our grocery challenge is JUST groceries not toiletries or alcohol etc) we have spent total of 224.66 this month leaving £25.34 left for 10 days. Oh my thats a challenge.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
yes definitely dont take oh shopping ! or send him. We have a cupboard, freezer and fridge absolutely full. weve spent 235 so far this month but with the amount of stuff we have shouldnt need to spend much more! However with two growing boys its getting more expensive.!Grocery Challenge Feb 16 £346 /4000
