evening all, well another week gone and i have manged to keep to buget, yipee. Only spent £11.11 last week so that will help me keep within my total monthly buget of £80.00, so as long as i don't spend any more than £19 or so i should be ok. well heres to a good for us.0

Well, not doing too great with the old budget as my sig shows, already overspent
...On the plus side, I am definitely spending less than normal and what I should have probably done is kept a spending diary before to see how I normally do...also I have budgeted for £200 but it is really £50 per week (as that is the specific amount I get) which for Jan should have made it £250.
I was feeling bad about it earlier, but we have just finished a lovely chicken, ham and mushroom pie (alll leftovers) which would have been unheard of in the past, I never ever made another meal from leftovers (possibly if we had any chicken leftover I may have had a chicken sandwich the following day)
Anyway I do have a fair amount in my freezer and cupboards so what I am going to try to do is not buy any more food for our meals, I also have some milk and bread although I will need a bit more...The hardest thing is that my sister and her boyfriend and son are coming up this weekend...I have already budgeted for a takeaway on Saturday night, but will need to get something in for Sundays meal..but that should be the only one I need to buy for....
Anyway sorry to have waffled on, but I know even though I am over budget, I am learning such a lot and can hopefully improve...

Hi everyone. I'll give you a clue... I took OH to lidl today...
Big mistake.
My 3 or 4 items I needed ended up being decidedly more and costing over £19!!!
I then called at butchers and spent nearly £6 on a joint of beef.
Will update sig when I've checked receipts. I know I'm still under budget but I could have got away with spending less. He buys things like bacon and pasta salad for work-if he asked i could have made some cheaper!!! He bought a lasagne-ready made for work-I could make some lasagne and portioned it and froze it!!! I'm gonna have to educate him.
Had to pick eldest DD up from school early today-migraine, again!!
Well done to everyone.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Last week I spent £36.37 not including the veg box which I accounted for at the start of the month. This included a couple of treats for DH's birthday, as well as some fresh fish (though I did get mackerel as it was the cheapest and it was really fresh so very nice)...but then we went away for the weekend so didn't have to buy in food for a couple of days which helped even it out!
I'm starting to feel the end is in sight this month as only just over a week to go now. I think I'll be under budget, (though I did set my budget quite high) so will have to resist the temptation to splash out !0 -
I'll be over budget but hopefully not by much. I plucked a figure from the air though as hadno idea what I spent. My pantry & freezer are both chocka though.

well its my first month of the grocery challenge and I am £28.10 over budget. However I am not disheartened as I have been picking up a lot of bargins so my freezers and cupboards are well stocked. Also have no idea how much I was spending pre challenge but I have just got my credit card bill and have accounted for £250 on that plus what I spent on switch plus cash so probably nearer £400 for one month:eek: .
have one week left as I get paid on 29th Jan so this will be my last week.
I am definately more conscious of what I am picking up but need to start using up what I have as I have no more room left in my freezer and cupboards lol.0 -
bananakinz wrote: »We're doing well on our grocery challenge, its nearly pay day again!! Mind you I think thats only due to us buying 2 bottles of wine for the whole month!
Just having a rummage through our cupboards to see what other meals we can make, and going to see if I can last till about Thurs/ Fri!
I haven't bought any alcohol this month as am still finishing the gin/drambuie/baileys/whisky (not all in the same glass at the same time!)that we had for Christmas-really fancied a bottle of wine on Saturday night but found one in the cupboard so didn't even buy one of those!
I'm sure thats why we are (currently) underbudget-pay day on Friday-yippee!!0 -
Mum did the shop this week, said it was around £80 so I'll update my sig once I know the exact amount - still good thoughNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130
