hmm, homemade bread is defo the best. i dunno if id ever bake it by hand though... not brave enough! my great nan used to do that though bless her heart and it was the best bread on the planet! :D i like to set my timer for 4/5am, then by 7am when the alarm goes off it smells GORGE through the whole house!

jojob, you made me laugh with the alcohol thing. it does sound daft but i HATE buying lager etc on my weekly shop, especially cos i hardly EVER drink in the house, so i think g0d what a waste of money! but i suppose long run, it saves our oh's thinking they can go out to the pub and spend a bomb, cos we can always play the "but theres loads of beer in the cupboard" card... :D:D:D oh men are so sweet, they think they win but in the long run they have walked into the mse trap of thinking ahead in order to save money! :rotfl:

  • well ive done a meal plans starting from wedneday when we go shopping to the following wednesday included breakfast dinner and tea for the weekends as kids are home for all 3 meals then and can cook everyone the same.

i went on mysupermarket to do the shop i will need to get wednesday virtually so i can see how much roughly it will be including food.laundry and toiltries and im impressed a grand total of £39.00 the only thing i forgot was tea bags and sugar so im thinking it will be £41-£42 alot less than the £63 a budgeted for :D:D

i think my pregnancy craving is money saving im addicted i admit it lol

  • Found a bag of chickpeas in cupboard yesterday, put them in to soak and have made a big bowl of hummus, some left to make falafels and some to add to curry.
Made oriental stock out of £1 bag of chicken wings for soup tomorrow, loads of meat off them.
Now what can I do with that skanky celery!!

    Hi all,

Must be the day for 'disputes'....OH wouldn't eat the turkey/broccoli/sauce that I made with pasta for dinner...reckons that all the 'curries' I am giving him at present are making him sick...never mind his 30 cigarettes and 2 bottles of wine, they have no effect!! He is gone off to bed in a huff and can puff too if he likes...have decided that I am going to buy him a nice piece of steak, chop or whatever and that we will eat the other stuff...the pasta was lovely and I don't feel in the least sick!

NSD to-day for me, tomorrow may be different, but think that I will be ok as I still have €168.16 left.

    Sleep well all,

    Marie

Hi Mollymop. What is it about our DCs. My DDs alway tell me that they are cooking at very short notice normally the night before. Very frustrating. Meanmarie. Hope your OH huffing and puffing soon blows over...:rotfl:sorry no pun intended... honest.

  • Spent a whopping £25.30 over the weekend in Tescos, Morrisons and the market (badly needed fruit & veg).

Restocked milk, bread, loo rolls, cereal, cat food and peanut butter, not to mention a couple of other bits.

The kids unexpectedly invited friends round for the afternoon/eve so I had 5 teenagers to feed (and DH & myself) and only 4 HM burgers. Wasn't feeling too well so I gave in and bought two half price pizzas from Tescos for quickness. No my usual thing but needs must.

Glad to see how positive everyone is, and love the chat on growing veg - shall do a 'Monty Don' and start sowing mine in earnest halfway through next month. Going to sow my herbs now, though. ;)
