  • Well, week 1 is over and I have managed to stay under budget. Thanks for all the posts, I find it very encouraging! Off to do my weekly shop tomorrow. Fingers crossed I don't get tempted by too many BOGOFs!

I'm not doing as well as I hoped this month as I only have £25 left for the rest of the month. In theory I don't need to buy much more this month but I have a feeling that the supermarkets will lure me in and I will go over the budget!

Made pizza for five to-day and didn't spend any money....reckon at most it would have been €5 if I had to buy everything and include my electricity as well, but very pleased as everyone reckoned they were really good...I was so hungry I would have eaten it anyway!

I'm soooo mad  and p*****d! I made the BIG mistake of taking my other half shopping with me again. I had a strict list which at most would have been £11. It turned out to be £55. I could cry! I'm trying so hard!

    Hi there jackie and skint_catt

This might not be do-able for you both but when i want to shop in a supermarket that i need hubby to drive me to .... i quite often ask him if he wants to go and have a coffee in the cafe with a newspaper .... ;) He used to think I was being lovely as he hates shopping when in actual fact it was just that I prefer shopping on my own... we still do it now and hubby appears at the checkout just in time to load the bags into the trolley :T
Im lucky as my hubby doesn't throw things in the trolley -just scoots along on the trolley like a kid :p ...
Just thought it might be worth a try for you -with the sounds of it skint_catt-even treating him to a brekkie might work out cheaper, and you might earn brownie points too for not dragging them around the "bad place" ;)

  • Been into the Co-op today as they had big joints of meat on special offer - I bought 3 at just under £15 but they are HUGE. I've cut them all in half and put them in the freezer. I'm going to split the cost over the rest of my January budget - they'll last longer than that anyway.
  • Just back from shopping. Popped into somerfield (on way to Mr T's) got loo rolls, crisps and t bags all on offer and spinich reduced came to £6.65 shoul have been £12.99 Saving of £6.34.
