Cazoo concerns - Administration

Options
Hi everyone,

Just over a year ago, I bought a car from Cazoo. At the time this was the most viable option available to me, and the car I chose was at a great price.

I took a PCP with Blackhorse to pay for the car and also took an extended warranty & servicing plan which are paid to Cazoo directly.

I've been following the news quite closely and now it appears that they are going into administration, or already have done as of today.

I've spoken with Blackhorse and they've assured me that this will not affect my finance agreement with them thankfully. However, upon looking at my bank statements it appears that Cazoo stopped taking any payments from me for my servicing plan 2 months ago, thankfully they serviced the car a few months prior so I will need to make new arrangements for next year's servicing.

However, they are still charging me for the extended warranty, this warranty includes repairs on the vehicle when needed, which they make you jump through a bunch of hoops for.

I am now in a position where the car does need diagnosing and potentially fixing, however, Cazoo have conveniently switched all of its phone lines off, does not reply via social media and has also closed all of their showrooms. I was wondering if anyone else had any information or advice as to who I can speak to regarding getting my car diagnosed and fixed as if I am still paying towards this extended warranty with Cazoo, surely I am still entitled to this benefit regardless of their business position?

Any advice is welcomed, cheers!

When you say "they are still charging me for the extended warranty", I hope you've cancelled the DD or SO?

If you'd paid in full upfront, then you'd be entitled to the warranty benefits, but in reality you wouldn't get it as they're broke. You'd have to register as an unsecured creditor, and eventually you might get some money back. The fact that you've been paying in instalments complicates matters.

BTW as for the service plan, this is exactly why I always recommend NEVER taking one out. Dealerships do go bust, no matter how big and shiny they are.

    Try Google:-

Extended Warranty is provided in partnership with The Warranty Group Services, who are part of Assurant. Number of claims: You can make an unlimited number of claims as soon as your cover starts, up to the value of your car when you purchased it

Get the paperwork out. Possible it is a 3rd party warranty & will still be running.

Who is your PCP agreement with? It will not be Cazoo, but a finance company such as Blackhorse, so Cazoo's disappearance hasn't changed that.
  • It’s with Santander, I can’t see them wanting my car back.

They are obligated to take it back if you dont want it at the end of the agreement, thats how PCP works.

Its a bridge to cross at the time though as its not clear yet if there will be equity in the car or not, obviously if the balloon is materially below the value you can get from selling it then you sell it, pay the balloon and keep the difference.

If it’s in the contract, whether they want it or not is irrelevant!

Anyway, you can’t be alone. They will have some sort of arrangement in place by the time it affects you.

They will send it straight to an auction house.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
