Car Breakdown complaint

I’m not sure where I stand with this one. Last night on my way home my clutch snapped and was stuck at the side of the road, I contacted RAC which I have through my car insurance (This was at 18:45) I wasn’t recovered until 3AM and by this point I was tired, frustrated and angry.
I sent a complaint to RAC and received an email back this morning to say they are sending me £50 to say sorry and they go on to say this is their final decision.
I’m not particular happy with Is but also not sure what I was expecting or if anyone has been in the same situation

I don’t honestly know. £50 seems disgusting to me. Very little update with out my constant calls, loss of earnings today because getting home so late unable to go to work, staying with the car for over 8 hours and once the recovery guy eventually got to me he’d only received the job at 02:10 after it being passed on to the third party company at midnight. What’s my time, stress and disappointment worth0

It would also depend on whether their terms of service make any priority and/or call out time guarantee.
Time, stress and disappointment generally dont attract a large financial reward0 -
That way they could have left me there all day and night without any concern. They are providing a service that they are clearly unable to deliver and then think that £50 is adequate?LightFlare said:It would also depend on whether their terms of service make any priority and/or call out time guarantee.

Can you? I may be out of date but at one time (i'm fairly sure) the AA and RAC (and similar) breakdown services were not treated as insurance. The same applied to most boiler breakdown cover and Denplan etc!powerful_Rogue said:norcross91 said:I’m not sure where I stand with this one. Not really sure of the relevance, you pay for a service at the price they are willing to provide. The service was shocking.littleboo said:how much did the breakdown cover cost?
Many people with lease cars etc may pay £80 a year but only use once in 10 years.
I had a similar experience with the AA, called at 7pm they achieved recovery at 7:30am !!0 -
I’m not sure what it cost to have breakdown cover included. Probably the £50 that they’ve offered as it was included with in my car insurance. That doesn’t that’s what the serious lack of service, care or even ability to fulfil that service to a standard expect by 1 of the supposedly top breakdown companieslittleboo said:how much did the breakdown cover cost?0 -
I think it is relevant. It's £50 back on an £80 product.1
